REIKI – What is It?
Reiki is over 2,500 years old and founded in Tibet. This healing method was shrouded in secrecy and practiced by the Tibetan Monks. Because of the secrecy surrounding it, the method was lost for centuries. It was rediscovered in the late 1800 ‘s by Dr. Usui of Japan.

Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Life Force. It is the energy all around us, literally the life force of the universe. Reiki is all we can see and all we cannot see. The energy is God , Creator, Mohammed, Buddha, Christ, The Light, The Great Spirit. Whatever it is you have a belief in, this is Reiki. Reiki works on all levels that we are aware of and those we have no knowledge of. Reiki heals working on the body, mind, spirit an emotional bodies. Reiki accelerates the body’s ability to heal. It identifies physical problems and opens the mind to the cause of disease and pain, assisting in the healing process.

When a Reiki Practitioner places their hands on a patient , the affected area soaks up the energy flowing from the Practitioner’s hands. Universal Life Force energy is within all things. We find ourselves “out of balance” due to a depletion of this energy due to illness, stress and spiritual emptiness. Reiki recharges the body, building the store of Universal Life Force Energy to the point where it can break through whatever blockage we are experiencing. Reiki recharges, aligns and harmonizes all the bodies we possess.

Reiki is an intelligent energy that knows “where to go” to facilitate the deepest healing. Because of its intelligence, practitioners do not need to have a medical background, anatomical or physiological knowledge.

Health care professionals in Nursing, Social Work, Psychotherapy, Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Acupuncture and Chiropractic services have found that Reiki reduces stress, frustrations, fatigue, serves in preventative health maintenance and chronic pain management. Reiki is useful in healing the trauma from addiction and abuse and accelerating the process of forgiving others and ourselves.

Reiki is received by a light placement of hands upon the body which is fully clothed. Although sessions of 40 to 50 minutes are recommended, Reiki can be received in a shorter amount of time. Reiki can also be received distantly.
